About the Annapolis Internal Medicine Walk-In Clinic
The Walk-In Clinic was opened in December 2010 in order to provide more convenient and accessible health care to our patients. Our dedicated and friendly Nurse Practitioners have a combined total of over 70 years of experience, and work closely with your physicians to provide you the best possible care. With our Electronic Medical Record system, the Nurse Practitioners have access to your health record, so your medications, pertinent health history and past office visit notes can be easily reviewed prior to treating your condition. Once your visit concludes, the Nurse Practitioner notifies your doctor that you have been seen, thereby keeping your physician involved in your care. We believe that providing high-quality and accessible care at the Clinic not only improves your health, but ultimately reduces healthcare costs by avoiding unnecessary visits to the Emergency Room or other Urgent Care Facilities.

Wynn Boyle, CRNP
Wynn Boyle was born in New York City, but moved to Annapolis at the age of two. Her 10th grade biology class was when she knew she wanted to be a nurse. She obtained her undergraduate nursing degree from Johns Hopkins University and worked for six years with acutely ill children flown in from around the world to be treated at JHH. With an interest in teaching, Wynn went back to school at University of Maryland for a Masters in Nursing Education. With an interest in nutrition and diabetes, Wynn also became certified as diabetes educator. She taught at University of Maryland and then at Anne Arundel Community College for many years: taking students into the hospitals throughout Baltimore and Annapolis. With a desire to provide comprehensive care to individual patients and to specialize more in diabetes, Wynn went back to school again to receive a post Masters certificate in adult primary care at Johns Hopkins Hospital. She became board certified as an adult primary care nurse practitioner in 2000, and continued to maintain her certification as diabetes educator. At AIM, you can find Wynn providing comprehensive care to acutely ill patients in our walk in clinic or you can schedule an appointment to see her for education for diabetes management and nutritional counseling for hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia and weight loss. She has worked closely with the primary care doctors to coordinate care and help patients live a healthier life through changes in attitude, diet and exercise. Wynn currently resides in Annapolis with her husband and three children. She loves to travel with her family: skiing out west, exploring islands in the Caribbean and vacationing at their beach house in Dewey Beach, Delaware.
Sara C. Adelman, CRNP
Sara grew up in New York and Connecticut prior to attending Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, PA. While in college, she studied abroad in France and volunteered for the French Red Cross which served as her foundation for pursuing a career in Nursing. Sara went onto Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing for her B.S.N and Masters degree for adult Nurse Practitioner. Sara is a member of the Sigma Theta Tau National Honors Society, the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and has special interest in wellness and preventative medicine, helping patient's take on a proactive approach in the prevention of disease. She lives on Kent Island with her husband, son and two Labrador Retrievers.
Brenda Mathews-Vitello, CRNP
Brenda received her undergraduate nursing degree in 1993 from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. She worked for 13 years as a public health nurse in rural Washington State. Additionally, her past experience includes working for a mobile clinic out of Baltimore and for Hospice of the Chespeake. She completed her graduate degree in 2007 from the University of Maryland. After graduation, Brenda provided care to the under served population of Anne Arundel County at the AAMC Outreach Clinic for six years before coming to work for Annapolis Internal Medicine. She has additional training in Women's health and small office procedures. Brenda loves traveling, camping and photography. She served in the Peace Corps in Central America for 3 years where she learned to speak Spanish.
Heidi Marcozzi, CRNP
Heidi got her Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing at York College of Pennsylvania, where she also played on their women’s basketball team. She then moved to Washington, DC and worked with the acutely ill in several of the capitol’s busiest Emergency Departments as an RN. During her time there, she found a passion for caring for victims of sexual assault. She then pursued a certification in forensic nursing and provided medical forensic care for victims of violence in addition to her ER career. Later, Heidi obtained her Master’s in Public Health and Master’s of Science in Nursing at Johns Hopkins University. After spearheading and working as DC’s Intimate Partner Violence Program Coordinator for DC Forensic Nurses, she missed interacting with patients and providing comprehensive health care. Heidi then obtained a Family Nurse Practitioner post-master’s certificate from George Washington University. She enjoys traveling, being physically active and spending time with her family.
Mandy Ervin, CRNP
Mandy grew up in Anne Arundel County. She received her Bachelors of Science in Nursing at the University of Maryland School of Nursing in 2008, where she graduated in the top 5% of her class. Mandy is also a member of the Sigma Theta Tau Honor’s Society. After graduation, she pursued a career at the University of Maryland Medical Center as a nurse and senior leader in the Cardiac Progressive Care Unit for 8 years. Determined to further her career, in 2013, Mandy went back for her Master’s Degree as an Adult/Geriatric Nurse Practitioner at the University of Maryland School of Nursing. Prior to her work at Annapolis Internal Medicine, she served as a Palliative Care Nurse Practitioner for Hospice of the Chesapeake, with special interest in end-of-life and symptom management. Mandy enjoys traveling, warm weather and spending time with her family, friends, and bulldog Chunk.
Heather Travis, CRNP
Heather Travis was born and raised in North Wilmington Delaware. She attended University Of Delaware and graduated with a Bachelors in Science in Nursing in 1996. After that, she moved to Annapolis and continued her Nursing career at AAMC. She then went on to attend the University of Maryland and graduated in 2003, earning her Masters in the Science of Nursing, Adult Primary Care Nurse Practitioner. Her career as a Nurse Practitioner includes a specialty in Oncology, specifically breast cancer and palliative medicine, in which she has specialty certifications in both. She has also worked in urgent care and dermatology. Heather, her husband and their four children currently live in Davidsonville. They have two rescue dogs and a cat. She loves any activity outdoors, from hiking in the mountains to combing the beaches for shells. She is an avid reader and is not afraid to try DIY projects around the house.
Susan Moreland, CRNP
A native of Maryland, Susan went to the University of Maryland and received both her BSN and MS degree from UMAB. After graduating in 1983 she worked in oncology at The Johns Hopkins Hospital until moving to Crofton and working in the float pool at AAMC in 1989. In 1994 she started work in an outpatient setting at Annapolis Medical Specialists until graduating with her MS as a Nurse Practitioner in 1998. Susan than started working with Chesapeake Bay Oncology until 2005, at which time she moved to JRL & Associates until 2008 when she returned to school. While obtaining her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from The Johns Hopkins School of Nursing she worked at Chesapeake Oncology and Hematology Associates until joining The Catholic University of America in 2009 as a Clinical Assistant Professor. Susan lives with her husband in Davidsonville and has three grown children.
